This is the First Shameful Anniversary of the murder of Ahmet Yıldız Our buddy, friend, lover, brother.. Ahmet was shot to dead exactly one year ago, in the evening of 16th July in 2008. Our friend Ahmet Yıldız had to become the subject of the first gay honor crime in front of his house with the bullets from his close relatives gun. While waiting for ambulances from the hospitals that were in the reach of 5 minutes of way, his body couldn’t stand and he lost his life in the area of crime. Not only Ahmet lost his life but also we lost a deep friendship full of love. If the one that we lost was only a friend, we could have tolerated it and we could have wished for solidity for ourselves. But the thing that we lost was not only a life but also our belief in love, respect to family and trust to justice…We lose our belief in love because we believe in “Everything that starts with the love of a person”. We lose our respect to family because a family is able to murder their children by the nonsense things that are created in the name of morals. We lose our trust to justice because we know that even though declaring that he was being threatened by his family and losing his life despite that, his murderers aren’t yet found even a year after his murder. AWe hope and expect for justice to be provided quick and right, for blameworthy people to be found and punished as soon as possible and this shameful crimes and rusty mentalities to be buried down to the depths of the history never to be found again.
